Awards

Crystal was the proud recipient of the World Teleport Association's 2001 Awards for Excellence in the teleport technology category when we introduced CrystalVision, our GUI product based on QNX.

This award is given to an organization "whose technology has contributed to the growth and development of the teleport industry for a period of not less than two years. In order to be selected as Teleport Technology of the Year, the organization’s technology must demonstrate achievement in one or more of the following areas —

• General acceptance and adoption among teleports
• Positive and demonstrable impact on the functions of a teleport and the customers of the teleport

History

Crystal's software began as a DOS-based earth station control system to be sold in tandem with a customer's antenna control unit (ACU). It was later modified to be configurable and to provide drill-down screen nesting.

This system served us well until it became obvious that graphical user interfaces were the way of the future. So we wrote our third-generation control system in the QNX operating system, taking advantage of the opportunity to greatly expand the design and capabilities of the DOS-based system.

Now that broadcasting has entered the age of mergers and acquisitions, our customers are demanding a monitor and control system that can oversee ALL of their facilities, regardless of their locations. We have met this need with our latest version, CrystalVision Network Management and Control.
